OktoBajaFest
Seven Springs · Colton, NY
The largest exhibition race for Baja vehicles in North America, with roughly 30 vehicles from 15 universities. An early chance to run the car in race conditions, refine drivetrain and suspension set-up, collect performance data and give newer members competition experience ahead of the SAE event.

The team's target SAE International competition for 2027, subject to the SAE registration lottery. Four days of static judging, dynamic events and the four-hour endurance race, and our main benchmark against the leading Baja programs in North America.
How it works
What happens at an event
Every team runs the same Kohler CH440, restricted to 10 hp, and meets the same safety rules, so results come down to design, weight, reliability and execution.
Static & business
Technical inspection, design judging, a cost report and a sales presentation, defended in front of industry judges.
Dynamic events
Acceleration, hill climb or traction, manoeuvrability and suspension events under demanding off-road conditions.
Endurance
A four-hour wheel-to-wheel race where reliability and pit-crew coordination matter as much as outright speed.

Travel and lodging for 10 to 15 team members, plus trailer and vehicle transport, make up about 30% of the season budget. Sponsors put their name on the car that gets us there.
